Guillermo del Toro may film a `Godzilla` reboot
The Mexican filmmaker - most famous for his dark 2006 tale `Pan`s Labyrinth` - has been offered the opportunity to direct a new version of the infamous Japanese story about a monster from the deep wreaking havoc on a city.
The new movie is based on a script by `Clash of the Titans` screenwriter Travis Beacham entitled `Pacific Rim` which sees the earth threatened by a group of "malevolent creatures", Latino Review reports.
However, Guillermo`s work on the upcoming horror `Mountains of Madness` may prevent him from signing on to the project, which is due for release in 2012.
He is currently set to work on a number of films as executive producer, including `Kung Fu Panda 2` and `Puss in Boots`, and he also has a writing credit in the currently-troubled `Hobbit`.
Guillermo is also working on a brand new version of Mary Shelley`s `Frankenstein`.
